The Difference Between Flats and Heels...

Wow could this picture not have worked out better for He or what?!?! He is just walking along, takes a picture of a girl in short shorts in heels, looking pretty good, and bam, she takes them off and puts on flat sandals.

If this isn't the clearest picture of why you look 10000x better in heels then flats, then you need to get your eyes checked. Ass, Legs, body, every single aspect looks better on the Heels pic then in the flats picture.

Shoe of the Week...Giuseppe Zanotti

Wam Bam, Thank you ma'am. Giuseppe Zanotti hit the jackpot with these bad boys.High Platform Suede Wedges standing with a Heel height of : 5.75" and a Platform of 1.75". If you got $800 bucks laying around, can't really imagine you should spend it on anything other then these.

The Summer of the Ugly Shoe...NO CHANCE!

ELLE: Here’s some news that should make your podiatrist happy: Comfortable shoes are in. No, we’re not talking a new contraption that makes 6-inch heels feel like walking on a cloud. We’re talking sensible, mom-approved footwear—shoes that in the past we’d only consider wearing for activities like hiking, boating, and darting to the Laundromat unseen...

Birkenstocks—another decidedly “un-fashion” brand—have also been popping up in some of our favorite stores like Madewell and Free People as well as on the feet of impossibly cool New York ladies. Despite the fact that in recent years we’ve made public avowals never to be spotted wearing these clunkers (which we still closely associate with a part of our sartorial history we’d rather not revisit), we have to admit we’re kind of feeling them this season....

And for those of you looking to gain comfort without relinquishing the height of your heels, there’s the flatform. It may be the ugliest shoe of all, but Prada’s psychedelic oxfords have sold out everywhere and fashion girls are lusting over Derek Lam’s wrap-up flatform ballet shoe. Guess ugly really is the new pretty.

Well just when women start believing Elle is a legit fashion magazine, they go and print an article like this. SORRY, THIS IS NOT THE SUMMER OF THE UGLY SHOE! Not going to allow that happen, not for one single day of this summer. High Wedges are EVERYWHERE, Heels are just as popular. Do we still have morons wearing birkenstocks and Flatforms, Yes, but they aren't fashionable good looking people. He hates finding articles like this, smart people writing dumb things. Don't be fooled.

HottHe of the Week...Kaitlyn

Hippie Chic, Beach Chic, call Kaitlyn, whatever you want, but He is going to call her a HottHe. Cannot tell you how many pictures, have He's famous Upper Arm Bangle, tons of rings and jewelry, heels, wedges everywhere. Kaitlyn is going to quickly rise to the ranks of top fashion blogger, but for now she is He Approved.

How would you describe your style? Im a scrabbled version of a gypsy native american with a little more edge... I used to cut out the pictures of Native Americans out of my parents Cowbys&Indians and cover my walls with them. You'll usually see me in diaper size shorts, boots, and a extremely oversized top. Smothered in jewelry. With some sort of adornment on top of my head.

Favorite item you own? Any of my turquoise jewelry. I feel naked without it.

Who are your favorite designers? Isabel Marant is always fun. And I feel like Cynthia Vincent could be my twin sole..

HE Needs More HottHes? Non-Bloggers and Bloggers wanted, please be Hot and Stylish and most importantly He Approved. Send your name, facebook link, and where you are from to fashionbyhe@gmail.com or Add He as a Facebook Friend.

HottHe of the Week...Lauren Jean

Right off the bat, Lauren Jean is not our typical type of HottHe of the Week. He just kinda really liked her pictures and style. Sometimes people have more of an artistic style then just the everyday fashion style. He thinks LJ has both, and for that she is He Approved.

How would you describe your style?
Hippie. 70s/80s. Rocker glam. Tom Boy. Ecclectic. (Think MK Olsen, Rumi Neely, of duty model streetwear) I have worn heels pretty much everyday for the past 7 years. I truly feel that shoes make the outfit. I own too many heels to count and up until recently my motto was heel height must be 4 - 5 inches. Lately though... maybe cuz i live downtown and walk everywhere... or maybe cuz my boyfriend has knocked a little sense into me for this summer time.. i have embraced the lower chunky heels and flats. Yes every fashionista has her moments of needing to take her look down a notch and be able to have a shoe she can easily romp around in causal attire.

I feel that this year i have truly found and embraced ME in my style. When you dress for you you feel so comfortable and sexy!

Favorite item you own? I know this is gonna sound silly but i couldn't live without safety pins. I am a vintage clothes shopper. I love finding old vintage pieces that have a story and history. One of my favorite things is that you can find really amazing quality and such a steal! I buy tons of shirts and dresses that i intend to hem or alter... but in reality i always end up safety pinning everything to suit the look i wanna rock for each day. I actually prefer pinning to sewing some pieces because that awesome tunic dress can be turned into a drapy summer shirt with about two pins and then transformed back again. With pins i get the most out of my wardrobe.

Who are your favorite designers? SHOES!!! Jeffrey Campbell. Christian Louboutin. Sam Edelman. I also die for Rick Owens... the inventor of the PERFECT leather jacket... over and over and over again. Otherwise i am more of a see what i can find and discover type of person.

HottHe of the Week...Suzy

Probably the baddest HottHe we have featured, Suzy, is the owner of a motorcycle shop, and has more tats they any other HottHe. Suzy is also a proud owner of the Jessica Simpson Dani shoes, and we all know pretty much everyone gets Approval from He in those. Scroll through her pictures, because the textured tights under the sheer skirt, might be one of the coolest looks He has seen in a while, and pretty sure He hasn't seen that anywhere else yet.

How would you describe your style? This is always a hard one, as I usually just wear anything and everything I like, whether or not it's currently in style, so it's hard to classify it. It's kinda rocker-boho meets romantic-girly-vintage if that can count as anything!

Favorite item you own? this changes as I accumulate new items. Currently however, my faves are my Stylestalker snake print maxi, Surface to Air Pandora heels, Covergirl lipsticks,Burberry-esque trench coat with faux leather sleeves.. . I have quite a few favorites actually, lol

Who are your favorite designers? Also a tough one, as I love all for different reasons. But I always love the classics- Chanel, Versace, Gucci, D&G. But also love Alexander McQueen (RIP), Alexander Wang, Philip Lim, Rad Hourani, Proenza Schouler, etc. As you can see, I have a hard time narrowing down anything!

Get Denim...Any Kind Will do...

Let's start at the beginning, Kourtney Kardashian is the best looking of the three sisters. No questions and He will not take any arguments on that. When she jumped into that denim jumpsuit and huge wedges, He fell in love all over again.

Anyway to the point of the post, that denim items look real good. Whether its the jean jumpsuit, or the denim dress He saw on the streets this weekend with matching denim heels. He is Approving them both.

For all you fools out there wearing bird feathers in your hair, it's time to step up your game. Go big or go home. A Late Start to a Great Week...

Guess that Celebrity Style...`

Sheer, ahh the beauty of sheer. Super high heels on an obviously tall girl. He loves tall girls with enough confidence to pull off even taller heels. Spring is over so we probably could have done without the flower top. Definitely had to be another better option available. While this celebrity goes back into the closet for a new top, its up to the ArmHe to guess who is this celebrity...

The Answer: Rosie Huntington, pretty sure she was a Victoria Secret model, now turned actress. None of that really matters thought, she is gorgeous, and sheer is really f*cking sexy. The black sheer dress with a little mini dress or something small underneath is quickly becoming one of He's favorite looks this summer.

Double whammy day, He found this brand Nookie and learned they had a clothing line and a beachwear line. Above is Nookie Beach, hard to find any information on this company other then they are in Australia, beach-chic hipster type brand.
And here is there clothing line, simply called Nookie. He is finding more and more amazing brands that come from down under. There is definitely an untapped resource, that He just sprung a leak on.

READER EMAIL: "DEATH TO MINI HEELS"

It’s been well document on this site that ‘the higher the heel, the hotter the girl'. Let’s call that rule #1 of heels. Rule #2 can be defined as one and two inch heels are f*ucking ugly, like hideously terribly ugly. Even thinking about the dreaded one or two ‘work heel’ is making me wanna go Lohan and pull the trigger… on your shoes. HE would agree that flats are pretty much the worst and make you look like a troll; one/two inch heels might even be worse, I think I’d rather stumpy leg flats that than a one inch midget heel. If you think you’re too tall and can’t wear HIGH heels, you’re wrong, own that sh*t and rock them – as Drizzy said, "Thank Me Later," -JG

ArmHe submission at its finest. From another He no less, listen up ladies, the men have spoken.
-He

Shoe of the Week...Steve Madden

Everyone is loving leopard so why not have a leopard shoe of the week. He has said it before, wedges are not points against you, you can still be He Approved in a big wedge instead of a big heel. People say they are easier to walk in, and if so then fine, strap in and get going.
-He

HottHe of the Week...Sonia

Sonia is exactly what her blog says she is, a Runway Hippie. Tons of jewelry, Sonia pretty much wears more rings then fingers. Even better Sonia is a NYC HottHe, been quite some time since NYC represented this category, but good to see them back on top. Sonia is He Approved.

How would you describe your style? I don't think that my style can be placed into one specific category because it ranges from day-to-day depending on my mood. But I'd like to say it's classic sophistication with a bohemian/urban edge.

Favorite item you own? Another thing that changes frequently, but at the moment my favorite item has to be my William Rast leather jacket.

Who are your favorite designers?
Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, Prada, Marni, Dries van Noten, Proenza Schouler, Acne, Karen Walker, Balenciaga, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Rebecca Taylor, Tom Binns, Christopher Kane, Versace Versus the list goes on and on and on and on....

HottHe of the Week...Tiiu

The coolest named HottHe of the Week we have yet to feature. Meet Tiiu, from up in Montreal, Canada. Nothing flashy going on here, just simple He Approve style. Many times less more, keeping it simple means there is less to screw up. Being beautiful is one thing, but being able to transform that beauty into something even better by using clothes and style takes some talent. Tiiu has that skill and is He Approved.

How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as some kind of special mix of boho/hippy/prep/rock'n'roll... and not gonna lie, a little 'hipster' is in there too. (Though I think my hipster-esque style is largely influenced by living in Montreal, haha.) More importantly though, my style is strongly influenced by the way I'm feeling on a given day... and that's actually kind of why I love fashion so much: it's all about freedom of self-expression.

Favorite item you own? Ooooo... tricky question. At the moment it's my amethyst pendant necklace. Some say gemstones have mystical powers... and I believe it! Amethyst quartz is an incredibly beautiful stone, and supposedly has some protective and healing powers as well. I crafted the necklace it myself, and don't like to leave the house without it.

Who are your favorite designers? Even trickier. When it comes to clothing, I'm very picky and usually like only one or two pieces from a collection. However I always find myself loving just about everything from Free People, Acne, and Alexander Wang. As for jewelry? Pamela Love is hands-down my number one. And accessories? Spell - The Gypsy Collective, of course!

FashionTALK by He...Telltale Hearts!

(pics by Leva Schneider)

He is teaming up with TellTale Hearts for the next month to bring you discounts like no other. All month long, ending on July 31, the ArmHe gets 10% OFF at checkout with code: WELOVEHE. It was a brillant idea by Telltale to take past HottHes of the Week and turn them into models for their site. Anyone remember Marie and Sarah Whitney? Both HottHe's and now both Telltale models.

To learn more about Telltale Hearts, He decided a FashionTALK by He with the two founders Melissa and Brandy was all but necessary:

Introduce the ArmHe to Telltale Hearts:
Brandy & Melissa: The whole reason we started this thing was to create an online shopping experience for vintage that is as functional as any major retailer, and to showcase our vintage on well styled models in an edgy setting. So many vintage sites just slap a dress on a girl and cut the head off or just put it on a dress form. And then they only take pay pal and don't accept returns, etc. I'm a big contemporary online shopper, and i wanted to build in all the functionality into our website that i expect from sites like shopbop or revolve. As we started looking for models to shoot we kept going to back to our favorite bloggers and thinking "wouldn't she be rad in our pieces?" and envisioning how we would style them. When we shoot bloggers we take into consideration their personal style and pick some pieces that fit in well with their current look. We also like to try looks on them that they might never wear themselves. We interact with the fashion blogger community, and we're always on the lookout for our next model! Our vintage is sexy, never frumpy, well styled, and not focused on lame trends like 90210 style floral dresses and big round hats. We collect timeless pieces that you will always keep in your closet and can wear again and again over the years.

He: Describe Telltale Hearts in one word?
Melissa: Vintage
Brandy: Extraordinary

He: What made you decide to open your own store?
Melissa: We wanted to take the "hunt" out of finding amazing vintage pieces. Having such a huge love for collecting vintage, we wanted to share that passion with our customers.
Brandy: We also wanted to create an online shopping experience that would keep someone like ourselves coming back again and again – dark, cool, eclectic. The kind of place where you go for one thing but come away with something completely unexpected. And you love it every time!

He: Who is the Telltale Hearts girl?
Melissa: Any fashionable lady who is tired of or has no time to hunt for special, one of a kind vintage pieces. Also someone who likes to mix and match vintage with modern trends.
Brandy: The Telltale Hearts girl appreciates the value of being able to choose from a lovingly curated collection of vintage pieces. She could do the work herself, and probably has in the past, but now she knows she can go to one special place and always find a treasure – no digging, no let down. She’s also got a deep love for luxe fabrics and really special accessories.

How is Telltale Hearts different then other sites out there?
Melissa: Telltale Hearts keeps things simple and puts the focus on the featured designers and all the amazing vintage.
Brandy: At Telltale Hearts we work to cultivate a definitive style that's not so much concerned with with supplying trends as it is with sourcing sexy, fun, timeless pieces that will mix well with any modern wardrobe.

He: What are some upcoming trends shoppers should be aware of?
Melissa: Upcoming Trends, for us we are always up for lace or sequins. But also look out for animal prints, tons of color, and statement jewelry!
Brandy: We’re looking to innovative lines like Seneca Rising and Something Else for unique silhouettes with cool details like geometric cut-outs and bold patterns.

He: One piece of clothing you cannot live without?
Melissa: Black anything, flowy tops and shawls.
Brandy: My black leather jacket!

He: What is the biggest mistake people make in fashion?
Brandy: The biggest mistake that people make is being afraid to try
new things. Confidence is essential to having great style.

What is the hottest selling item for summer?
Melissa: Bright colored dresses, lace and crop tops.
Brandy: Cut off denim with anything! Kimono-style tops and anything that shows a little skin. We love open backs and thigh-skimming skirts!

What should we gear up for this Fall?
Melissa: Brights will still be important. But also look for leather, ponchos, mens wear, stripes and tons of coats!
Brandy: For Fall we love chunky knits and romantic blouses. And sequins, of course!

Discount Code: WELOVEHE for 10% OFF at checkout! Active until 7/15.

Bangle?...Ring?...Cuff? You Decide...

This Jean Paul Gaultier ring/cuff combo is actually pretty cool. Anything jewelry related that is a little different makes a big impression. Sometimes just when you think He is going to hate something, He turns the tables on ya.

Get a He Silky Approval...

He has written about silk dresses and outfits before, big fan, perfect for summer. matched with a pair of high wedges and you're Approved. Of course whatever hat that is is completely unnecessary.

The ONLY 3 Places Flats Are Allowed!

As He walks around the city during lunch break, He sees a little bit of everything but mostly the flats are what catches or doesn't catch He's eyes. He thought He would put together a list of acceptable places for Flats...Keep in mind, in reality flats should never be worn.

1) A Long Stroll - fairs, festivals, full day of walking, but most of the time wedges should be worn
2) The Beach - sandals, hard to walk in heels or wedges on the sand.
3) Snowy and Rainy days - Never UGGS, but hunter boots are fine
4) ...umm...Nah that's about it

Got any other places to days that He should allow flats? Leave a comment with your suggestion

Earrings that Connect Your Ears...

He can just picture this double earring thingy getting caught on something and a chick losing both ear lobs. Just wear a necklace seems a whole lot safer.
-He

Is Summer Too Hot For Leather Boots?

Goodluck, no problems here, just wondering if during the summer you should leave the boots at home?

Guess That Celebrity Style?

The silt on this dress is so high up, you get to see every last inch of this celebrity's leg. Backless dress, no bra, this is without question the tri-fecta of hotness. Whoever this celebrity is is following every Fashion by He rule in the book. Any guesses on who this HottHe is...?

The Answer: Heidi Klum. Can she do any wrong? She doesn't seem to be aging. Still as hot as ever. Rocking out with an amazing dress just straight killing it. Seal is a lucky man.

It's Summer...Show Off Your Back!

Not sure where you live, but it is getting hot as hell in NYC, which means it is time for you to start exposing your back a little bit more. Now He thinks that instead of just showing off an open back, being in the ArmHe, you should take it to the next level. Add a back necklace or a body chain something a little extra to get the heads to turn. This little tip will do you and your back wonders.
Take it from He, The King of Fashion.

Tights Are NOT A DIY Type Item...

We spotted a woman on the train last week in a pair of HOMEMADE Henry Holland Super Suspenders (she’d cut out squares)!

These are some of the sexiest stockings inspired tights made, and to think for a second that you can do it yourself is foolish. Spend the extra money and buy the legit stuff, it looks a lot better.
-He

That is One Bright Jumpsuit...

Don't mind the bright orange at all. It's summer you are suppose to have bright colors. Also a fan of the pants going down past the heels, makes the legs look longer. Probably don't need the bra straps hanging out. All in All, He Approved.
